Astoria, Oregon dates back to 1805 when the Lewis and Clark expedition camped at Fort Clatsop. Fort Astoria was built a few years later by a fur trading company established by John Jacob Astor. It was a destination of traders, explorers, missionaries and settlers.

Astoria is on US 101, a scenic highway along the Pacific Coast from Santa Barbara, California to South Bend, Washington. It's also the beginning of the Oregon Coast Bike Route that is a marked bicycle touring route stretching 370 miles along Oregon's picturesque cliffs and beaches. Points of Interest include Astoria Column, Columbia River Maritime Museum, Flavel House Museum, Fort Astoria, Fort Clatsop and the Heritage Museum.
